Cuba : evolución económica durante 2010 y perspectivas para 2011

Abstract

Luego de crecer 1,4% en 2009, la economía cubana registró una expansión de 2,1% en 2010. Como consecuencia de una reducción absoluta de la población ocurrida este último año, el PIB por habitante aumentó hasta alcanzar una tasa de 3,1%. El repunte moderado de la economía se debió principalmente al consumo (sobre todo el privado), que tuvo un alza de 4,1%, y a las exportaciones de bienes y servicios, que se incrementaron 2,7%. También se acrecentó el turismo y hubo precios más favorables para las exportaciones, en particular las de servicios y sobre todo las de salud, indexadas en función al precio del petróleo. A su vez, se observó un descenso pronunciado de la inversión por segundo año consecutivo, de 7,7%. Esta disminución, junto con una modesta recuperación del consumo del sector público, permitió reducir el déficit fiscal, de -4,8% del PIB en 2009 a -3,7% en 2010, a pesar de una caída de los ingresos tributarios. La tasa de desempleo ascendió de 1,7% en 2009 a 2,5% en 2010, en medio de un proceso de cambios importantes en el ámbito laboral, y el índice de precios al consumidor (IPC) se elevó 1,6% a diciembre de 2010, en contraste con la contracción de 0,1% en 2009.
