Abstract

Abstract: Information on risk assessment of disasters. Case study of five countries: Nicaragua Recent history, particularly the events related to hurricane Mitch in 1998, has demonstrated the necessity of additional emergency resources as well as for the subsequent rehabilitation and reconstruction caused by these events in Nicaragua. The currently insufficient national financial capacity will require external aid. This report analyses two extreme scenarios that have a high probability of occurring: an earthquake originating in one of the local faults in the city of Managua and a nearby passing of a category three hurricane In summation, the losses in the studied state represent 22,79% total amount, which indicates a substantial loss. It is necessary to emphasize the remaining vulnerability of the structural systems of one or two-level, to earth quakes of medium magnitude.
