Abstract

Presentación Con la presente edición 2002 se retoma la tarea de actualización de la base de estadísticas sociales difundidas desde 1995 por la Sede Subregional de la CEPAL en México. El documento procura atender las necesidades de información oportuna y confiable sobre variables demográficas e indicadores del sector social para los 10 países de la Subregión: Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haití, Honduras, México, Nicaragua, Panamá yla República Dominicana. En el proceso de compilación de ha tratado de preservar la continuidad de las series históricas, descartando solamente aquellos años o intervalos que no afectan la apreciación de conjunto, dadas la ampliación y la actualización de las cifras. Por otra parte, se han agregado indicadores de género, tecnológicos y de agrupaciones subregionales, al propósito de diversificar el contenido original.
