México: evolución económica durante 2001

Abstract

1. Rasgos generales de la evolución reciente La contracción de la economía mexicana registrada en 2001 contrasta fuertemente con el desempeño de 2000 (6.9%) y con la meta anunciada a principios del ejercicio (4.5%). Luego de un débil ascenso en el primer semestre, el producto interno bruto (PIB) retrocedió 1.6% en el segundo, lo que determinó su caída de 0.3% en el conjunto del año y así se interrumpió bruscamente el ciclo de crecimiento del quinquenio previo (5% promedio anual). El ingreso nacional bruto real se incrementó apenas 0.4%, gracias al dinamismo de los envíos de remesas de mexicanos en el exterior y a las menores salidas por el pago de servicios de factores, pero en términos por habitante se redujo 1.4%.
