Abstract

Sintetiza las estrategias de tres empresas transnacionales estadounidenses y el origen de su poder de negociación en la industria del banano en Centroamérica. Analiza algunos aspectos históricos de la creación de la Unión de Países Exportadores de Banano (UPEB), y las nuevas políticas bananeras -desde 1974- que llevaron a importantes cambios en la capacidad de negociación y distribución de beneficios entre las empresas transnacionales y los productores centroamericanos.
