Abstract

Introducción Este informe se dirige a las autoridades de gobierno que tienen la responsabilidad de la planificación y el aprovechamiento de los recursos hídricos y a los profesionales que desarrollan actividades afines en el campo de la educación, la capacitación en el servicio y la investigación. Presenta una síntesis de los principales hallazgos de una investigación regional latinoamericana cuyo objetivo es contribuir a mejorar la planificación y el aprovechamiento de los recursos hídricos, teniendo especialmente en cuenta la necesidad de conciliar las exigencias que imponen el desarrollo económico acelerado y la protección del medio ambiente, y formula algunas sugerencias para la acción futura. El proyecto fue encargado por el Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Medio Ambiente (PNUMA); en febrero de 1975, y coauspiciado por la Comisión Económica para América Latina (CEPAL);. Fue realizado por la CEPAL, en colaboración con varias instituciones nacionales y organismos especializados de las Naciones Unidas, durante el período comprendido entre septiembre de 1975 y diciembre de 1977.
