Formulación de políticas de salud integral de los ancianos en América Latina y el Caribe

Abstract

El documento incorpora extractos de los aspectos principales del análisis realizado en la reunión de consulta sobre la tercera edad, realizada a mediados de 1991, así como las orientaciones y sugerencias emanadas de la revisión de los diversos temas considerados. El análisis se centra en: a) los factores de cambio y sus implicancias para la formulación de políticas de salud integral de los ancianos, con énfasis en el contexto político y económico, el panorama institucional y tecnológico de los sistemas de salud pública y seguridad social; b) formulación y contenido de políticas de salud integral cuyo marco remite a 4 elementos estratégicos: el enfoque central de promoción de la salud, las relaciones salud-desarrollo y el enfoque intersectorial, la reformulación de los sistemas de seguridad social y el desarrollo integral de servicios de salud y sociales.
