Abstract

El análisis del envejecimiento aborda, como aspectos centrales: a) la naturaleza del proceso con énfasis en los criterios cronológico, biológico, psíquico, social, fenomenológico y funcional que lo definen; b) las etapas epigenéticas del desarrollo, las implicancias del envejecimiento y un modelo global del proceso incluyendo los factores que entran en juego; c) la causalidad del proceso: los factores biológicos y psicosociales; d) las resultantes del envejecimiento, a partir de una estratificación del envejecer normal en dos categorías, el envejecimiento exitoso y el usual; e) perspectivas sobre la evolución y la prevención.
