La urbanización en América Latina: 1950-1970; patrones y áreas críticas

Abstract

El analisis de las tendencias y caracteristicas del proceso de urbanizacion y crecimiento urbano en las ultimas decadas en America Latina, identifica los patrones dominantes observables en la transformacion de la estructura ecologico-demografica de la region. Destaca la importancia de examinar las caracteristicas y patrones de distribucion de la jerarquia urbana -por la estrecha asociacion con las modalidades que asume el proceso de urbanizacion y el proceso de desarrollo en los distintos paises- a traves de su proximidad o alejamiento de la regla tamano-rango" y de los indices de primacia de los sistemas urbanos latinoamericanos. El analisis de las principales "areas y situaciones criticas" presenta el proceso en relacion con las politicas de urbanizacion y redistribucion espacial de la poblacion susceptible de ser aplicada en los paises de la region."
