Factores estrategicos en el cambio de la fecundidad. Chile: un analisis de comunas entre 1950 y 1970

Abstract

El ejercicio consiste en explicar variaciones de la fecundidad chilena en los anos 1950, 1960 y 1970, segun variables de salud, educacion y poblacion economicamente activa en 77 comunas de seis provincias, que fueron seleccionadas segun su heterogeneidad social, integridad de las estadisticas vitales y la importancia de la nupcialidad. Los resultados referidos a la totalidad de las comunas, no permiten sustentar una hipotesis que asigne igual importancia a los factores para explicar las variaciones de la fecundidad. Al considerar solo comunas de ruralidad maxima y media, las primeras presentan los mismos factores significativos que el total de comunas (disponibilidad de servicios de educacion y proporcion de PEA en agricultura y en industria y minas). Durante 1950-70 los mayores descensos de la fecundidad corresponden al contexto de ruralidad media. Tambien se analiza el comportamiento reproductivo segun caracteristicas de la distribucion espacial de la poblacion.
