Heterogeneidad estructural y distribucion espacial de la poblacion en America Latina; version preliminar

Abstract

Los factores involucrados establecen entre si multiples relaciones de complementacion funcional en la esfera productiva, pero tambien de dominio y de subordinacion en la esfera distributiva. A nivel de su expresion espacial, estas estructuraciones han dado lugar a la hipertrofia del principal centro urbano. En una perspectiva rural-urbana, la distribucion de las pautas reproductivas es opuesta a la del crecimiento de la productividad laboral y de los niveles medios de vida. Se concentran asi los flujos migratorios hacia los lugares mas prosperos y urbanizados de cada pais y, particularmente, hacia su metropoli principal. Las distintas situaciones socio-economicas, que evidencian realidades demograficas disimiles, explican en parte la creciente migracion fronteriza de algunos paises limitrofes. Se admite que la fecundidad urbana es inferior a la rural, pero solo dentro de cada contexto regional. La mortalidad disminuye mas rapido en las areas urbanas, siendo menor la esperanza de vida en las areas rurales.
