Abstract

La inadecuada calidad de la informacion censal y de las estadisticas vitales en America Latina, impiden la aplicacion irrestricta de modelos sin efectuar ajustes previos. CELADE presta gran atencion al desarrollo de nuevos modelos probandolos criticamente, para incorporarlos a sus trabajos. El campo de sus actividades tan variado y la insuficiencia de recursos financieros y de tiempo, han dificultado el avance en el perfeccionamiento de ciertas tecnicas basadas en algunos modelos matematicos. Se describe el uso de modelos en relacion a trabajos realizados en las siguientes areas: a).proyecciones de poblacion; b).analisis de mortalidad reciente y pasada; c).analisis de fecundidad reciente y pasada, tomando en cuenta el efecto de programas de planificacion familiar; d).aplicacion de un modelo simple de interaccion de variables demograficas y economicas.
