Abstract

Resumen El objetivo general de este documento es examinar —desde el punto de vista de sus vínculos con la población y el desarrollo— las características y perspectivas de los jóvenes de América Latina y el Caribe. La exposición se ordena en torno a una interrogante central: en qué medida la situación y las particularidades actuales de los jóvenes de la región permiten el despliegue de su aporte potencial a la producción y reproducción de una sociedad orientada hacia un desarrollo balanceado en sus aspectos económicos, sociales y políticos; esto es, un desarrollo que promueva el crecimiento económico con integración social sobre bases de equidad y democracia. Guiado por esa pregunta, el análisis destaca aquel aporte potencial y presta atención a las barreras y problemas que impiden su concreción.
