Efectos cambiantes de la migración sobre el crecimiento, la estructura demográfica y la segregación residencial en ciudades grandes: el caso de Santiago, Chile, 1977-2017

Abstract

Hay un amplio debate sobre las transformaciones sociodemográficas y territoriales en curso en las metrópolis del mundo, que incluye a las de América Latina. Hay consenso en que la forma metropolitana está cambiando hacia configuraciones más difusas y extendidas territorialmente y más fragmentadas socialmente. Pero también hay indicios de contratendencias, en particular en materia de recuperación inmobiliaria y demográfica de los centros, diversificación social de la periferia, persistencia de núcleos duros de segregación de los pobres, por una parte, y de enclaustramiento autárquico de zonas y enclaves de alto ingresos, por otra. En este texto se usa el caso del Área Metropolitana del Gran Santiago (AMGS), capital de Chile, para evaluar empíricamente el efecto de la de la migración interna, incluyendo la intrametropolitana, sobre algunas transformaciones metropolitanas.
