Abstract

Resumen Este documento plantea algunas reflexiones sobre las bases conceptuales de la política de desarrollo sostenible y su aplicación en América Latina y el Caribe. Esta dividido en cuatro secciones. En la primera se hace un breve bosquejo del estado del medio ambiente en la región y de sus condicionantes. En la segunda se plantean reflexiones sobre la base conceptual de la política ambiental. En la tercera se derivan, a partir de las reflexiones anteriores, algunas consideraciones sobre los instrumentos económicos de la política ambiental y su aplicación y aplicabilidad en la región. El ensayo termina con algunas consideraciones sobre el desarrollo de la institucionalidad pública y el fortalecimiento de las instancias ambientales de la sociedad civil.
