Balance preliminar de las economías de Centroamérica y la República Dominicana en 2023 y perspectivas para 2024

Abstract

Este es un documento de coyuntura en el que se analizan las tendencias de las principales variables macroeconómicas de los países de la región en 2023 y sus perspectivas para 2024. En 2023 la tasa de crecimiento de las economías de los países de Centroamérica y la República Dominicana (CARD) registró una desaceleración moderada al pasar de una variación interanual del 5,4% en 2022 al 4% en 2023. El déficit fiscal promedio subregional se mantuvo en un 1,9% del PIB, misma cifra que en el año anterior. La subregión mantuvo una política monetaria restrictiva y cautelosa. Al tercer trimestre de 2023, el déficit promedio de la cuenta corriente de CARD fue equivalente al 1,5% del PIB (-3% del PIB en el mismo período de 2022). En 2023 la inflación interanual (diciembre-diciembre) promedio de la subregión se situó en 2,8%, 5,1 puntos porcentuales por debajo de la registrada en 2022 (8%). El mercado laboral en CARD ha mostrado cierta mejoría. Se estima que en 2024 los países de CARD experimentarán una mayor presión en sus indicadores macroeconómicos.
