El desafío de la sostenibilidad financiera de la educación en América Latina y el Caribe

Abstract

Invertir en educación es una decisión inteligente, muy rentable y esencial para el desarrollo de los países. América Latina y el Caribe debe situar la educación en el centro de sus estrategias para avanzar hacia el desarrollo social inclusivo, una dimensión fundamental del desarrollo sostenible. Con el fin de garantizar una educación inclusiva y de calidad, y de implementar políticas educativas estables a mediano plazo, es preciso invertir más y mejor en educación, así como asegurar la sostenibilidad financiera de las iniciativas en este ámbito. Los Ministerios de Educación de la región deben asumir la responsabilidad de participar en las decisiones presupuestarias que atañen al sistema educativo, así como difundir entre los distintos actores del desarrollo los importantes beneficios sociales y económicos de invertir en el conocimiento y la capacidad de las personas, el principal activo del que disponen los países para construir un futuro mejor para todas y todos.
