Gasto público en América Latina y el Caribe: sistemas de clasificación para analizar la asignación de recursos

Abstract

El objetivo del presente documento es proporcionar un panorama completo del gasto público en los países de América Latina y el Caribe, a través de la clasificación funcional y del gasto social según la metodología de la base de datos sobre gasto social (SOCX) de la Organización de Cooperación y Desarrollo Económicos (OCDE). Esta información estadística detallada y comparable del gasto público por finalidad y función, así como por programas con fines sociales, permite analizar, formular e implementar políticas públicas más eficientes y eficaces. Además, esta información brinda mayor transparencia sobre el uso de los recursos públicos. En el presente informe se busca asimismo examinar los elementos clave de una estrategia dirigida a fortalecer las estadísticas del gasto público por funciones y del gasto social en la región, que sirvan de guía para orientar la estandarización y la comparabilidad de las estadísticas de gasto público.
