El trabajo de cuidados y la trayectoria educativa de las mujeres en las áreas de ciencia, tecnología, ingeniería y matemáticas (CTIM)

Abstract

La segregación ocupacional y en la educación superior representan una faceta más de la división sexual del trabajo, uno de los nudos estructurales de la desigualdad de género. La escasa participación de las mujeres en las áreas de ciencia, tecnología, ingeniería y matemáticas (CTIM) es una preocupación creciente en los debates sobre igualdad de género en el marco de la Agenda Regional de Género. Dada la relevancia de la educación superior en CTIM en la actual transición digital, urge analizar la sobrecarga de trabajo de cuidados de las mujeres como barrera para su inserción, permanencia y proyección en el mercado laboral vinculado a esas áreas. Este documento presenta iniciativas orientadas a superar este nudo en las instituciones, así como un estudio sobre el tiempo y las condiciones para ejercer el cuidado de que disponen las estudiantes de carreras CTIM en universidades y centros de formación técnica estatales, llevado a cabo por el Ministerio de Educación de Chile, con el apoyo de la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL), en el marco de su proyecto de colaboración con el Gobierno de Noruega “Enhancing human capacities throughout the life cycle for equality and productivity”.
