Deudas, cuidados y vulnerabilidad: el caso de las trabajadoras de la salud en la Argentina

Abstract

En este documento se analiza el impacto que tuvo la pandemia de enfermedad por coronavirus (COVID-19) en los cuidados y el endeudamiento de los hogares de las trabajadoras de la salud que continuaron trabajando, atendiendo la crisis sanitaria. A partir de una investigación de tipo cualitativa sobre estas trabajadoras, que a su vez tuvieron a cargo hijos, hijas, personas con discapacidad y personas mayores, se describe y analiza la organización y distribución de las tareas de cuidado y la gestión monetaria de los hogares. Se muestra que las mujeres analizadas aumentaron la cantidad de horas trabajadas y la intensidad de sus trabajos remunerados, intensificaron las actividades de cuidado doméstico y familiar (manteniéndose un statu quo en la distribución genérica de las responsabilidades respecto de las actividades de cuidado), e incrementaron sus deudas, sobre todo las destinadas a garantizar los cuidados y sus precondiciones. Todo ello refuerza las lógicas de cuidado normalizadas que profundizan las desigualdades de género.
