Trenes de carga inteligentes en América Latina

Abstract

La evolución de los conocimientos informáticos y digitales aplicados al sistema ferroviario de carga ha permitido desarrollar el concepto de trenes adaptados a las tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones. Gracias al perfeccionamiento de numerosas soluciones tecnológicas en el transcurso de los últimos años, estas alternativas han avanzado de manera significativa en la región y en particular en el sector del transporte ferroviario de cargas. La adecuada planificación y priorización de las tecnologías digitales aplicadas al sistema ferroviario facilitarán la captura de beneficios en las distintas etapas de las cadenas de valor relacionadas con la logística ferroviaria; el logro de estos objetivos se vincula en forma directa con un espacio regional más cohesionado y competitivo. En América Latina, la integración física y funcional mediante sistemas y redes informáticas entre diferentes países supone un aspecto transcendente para comprender el contexto del sistema ferroviario de carga en los países considerados: Argentina, Brasil, México y Panamá. En el documento se aborda la situación de los trenes de carga inteligentes en relación con sus principales mercados y tipos de carga y su evolución vinculada a las tecnologías de la información.
