Abstract

Este documento, que constituye una síntesis del estudio “Afrodescendientes y la matriz de la desigualdad social en América Latina: retos para la inclusión”, brinda información novedosa y actualizada sobre las condiciones de vida de las personas afrodescendientes. Se constatan progresos en diversos ámbitos del desarrollo, pero que son insuficientes para superar el racismo y las profundas desigualdades estructurales que siguen caracterizando su situación. Estos hallazgos ponen en evidencia los desafíos urgentes que deben afrontar los Estados y la sociedad en general. Para ello, se ofrecen una serie de recomendaciones de política que es preciso considerar en los procesos de transformación y de profundización democrática que requiere la región.
