Brechas estructurales en América Latina y el Caribe: una perspectiva conceptual-metodológica

Abstract

En este documento se presenta el enfoque de brechas estructurales aplicado a América Latina y el Caribe, propiciando la comprensión de sus relaciones con los conceptos de pobreza, desigualdad y desarrollo económico. El documento se enmarca en la necesidad de comprender, medir y caracterizar las brechas estructurales que obstaculizan el desarrollo de los países de renta media de la región y que constituyen un desafío para el desarrollo sostenido, incluyente y sostenible a largo plazo. Además de datos empíricos sobre un conjunto de brechas horizontales y verticales presentes en la región, en este documento se presentan elementos metodológicos preliminares para el diagnóstico de las brechas estructurales.
