La gestión y manejo de residuos sólidos y sus propuestas regulatorias e impositivas

Abstract

Esta síntesis de política pública discute sobre las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI) proveniente de los residuos sólidos y de otros tipos de residuos de América Latina y el Caribe. En este sentido, es importante poder comprender las características del manejo y gestión de residuos sólidos para poder diseñar estrategias que contribuyan a la reducción de los GEI provenientes de este sector. De este modo, tomando los casos de Chile, Colombia, Perú y Uruguay, se han analizado distintas oportunidades para la incorporación de reformas en el marco regulatorio del sector, principalmente a través del uso de incentivos económicos, con los que es posible proyectar importantes disminuciones en la generación de gases de efecto invernadero en cada uno de los países y fomentar así los principios y bases para un desarrollo sostenible.
