Nuevas narrativas para una transformación rural en América Latina y el Caribe. La nueva ruralidad: conceptos y medición

Abstract

En décadas recientes, los espacios rurales se han transformado en términos económicos, sociales y culturales, lo que ha llevado a hablar de una “nueva ruralidad”. Los instrumentos clásicos de caracterización y medición de lo rural han resultado limitados para integrar los flujos e interacciones que definen los espacios rurales. Los patrones de producción, consumo y movilidad cambiaron profundamente, sacando a la luz la necesidad de reposicionar los espacios rurales en las agendas de políticas públicas en favor del crecimiento y el desarrollo. En este documento se presentan los diferentes conceptos de ruralidad y enfoques de análisis, caracterización y medición de los espacios rurales, así como sus implicaciones en términos de política pública.
