La sostenibilidad social en el comercio internacional: instrumentos y prácticas utilizadas por productores y empresas

Abstract

En esta publicación se presentan varios instrumentos y prácticas utilizados por las empresas exportadoras de América Latina y el Caribe para incorporar la sostenibilidad social en sus operaciones. En la primera parte se describe la relación entre el comercio internacional y los aspectos sociales, mientras que en la segunda se examinan los instrumentos y prácticas empresariales que permiten identificar los aspectos sociales críticos para el quehacer de las empresas, con un enfoque en las certificaciones, las recomendaciones sobre las cadenas de valor, los mecanismos orientados al comercio y las denominadas huellas sociales. Se llama la atención sobre las complejidades que plantean estos instrumentos para los productores y empresas de la región.
