Biotecnología en la provincia de Santa Fe: el sector científico técnico

Abstract

La provincia de Santa Fe concentra una parte importante de la capacidad biotecnológica de la Argentina. En esta provincia existe una masa crítica de empresas que utilizan y desarrollan la biotecnología en el campo de la agricultura, la industria alimenticia, la salud animal y la salud humana. Complementariamente, la provincia cuenta con una base científica en la materia conformada por investigadores que desarrollan sus actividades en instituciones académicas y científicotecnológicas localizadas en esa provincia. El presente trabajo provee un estudio exhaustivo y una mirada integral respecto a la evolución y el actual desarrollo de la actividad biotecnológica en el sector científico-técnico de la provincia de Santa Fe. El estudio se basa en información original obtenida a partir de relevamientos de campo realizados a científicos que lideran investigaciones en el campo de la biotecnología en instituciones públicas de ciencia y tecnología localizadas en dicha provincia. Desde la perspectiva cuantitativa, el estudio brinda órdenes de magnitud respecto a los actores, esfuerzos, resultados e impactos de la biotecnología en la provincia de Santa Fe; y se complementa con un análisis cualitativo que permite enriquecer la base de conocimiento respecto a las razones y factores que explican el actual desarrollo científico-tecnológico de la biotecnología en esta provincia, las capacidades en la materia y los obstáculos que permitirían un mayor desarrollo de la misma.
