Abstract

El presente documento analiza la factibilidad de los principales mecanismos de financiamiento de largo plazo para inversiones en infraestructura urbana con criterios de ecoeficiencia. La adopción de prácticas ecoeficientes en el desarrollo de infraestructura urbana facilitará el desacople entre crecimiento económico, uso de los recursos y deterioro del medio ambiente, ya que la sostenibilidad del crecimiento económico y del medio ambiente es posible alcanzarla mediante un desarrollo urbano que genere valor económico y simultáneamente disminuya el impacto ambiental y el uso de los recursos. Incorporar criterios de ecoeficiencia en el desarrollo de infraestructura urbana es fundamental para la sostenibilidad de las ciudades, puesto que, el crecimiento urbano en términos de población e ingreso depende del desarrollo de infraestructura, y la infraestructura define los patrones de movilidad e interacción en las ciudades, estableciendo las tendencias de consumo y producción por décadas.
