Estudio de los costos de la desertificación y degradación de las tierras en el departamento de Piura (Perú)

Abstract

El presente trabajo es resultado de una investigación desarrollada en el marco un convenio establecido entre la Agencia de Cooperación Alemana (GIZ) y la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL). Participa también de esta investigación la iniciativa The Economics of Land Degradation liderada por la GIZ. Asimismo,se ha contado con el apoyo del Joint Research Center de la Unión Europea, que ha facilitado datos satelitales de alta resolución para trabajar en la región Piura. El objetivo de este estudio es medir los costos de inacción de la desertificación y degradación de las tierras en el departamento de Piura, Perú, aplicando un conjunto de metodologías desarrolladas en el contexto de trabajos similares en países y regiones de América Latina. Su particularidad consiste en contar con información a escala distrital y con un gran nivel de detalle, lo que posibilita resultados más afinados, los que han sido presentados a nivel local para su discusión y validación.
