Reflexiones en torno al estado empresario en Chile

Abstract

El Estado en su función empresarial desempeña un rol principal en la actividad económica de nuestro país. El autor analiza esta realidad, aportando valiosos antecedentes del proceso de estatización de los medios de producción durante el período 1970-1973, señalando que los orígenes e instrumentos de la mencionada revolución socialista se remontan al período post "Gran Depresión". Asimismo, presenta el tradicional conflicto en que los Gobiernos se debaten respecto de los objetivos de las empresas públicas. Si el objetivo político de "satisfacer demandas de diversos grupos de presión" domina el de eficiencia económica se producen serias consecuencias que conducen al impuesto inflación, monopolios en los mercados, falta de inversión, redistribución regresiva del ingreso y estatismo.
