Le manque d’emploi en Wallonie : mythes et réalité

Abstract

D’après certaines sources, il y aurait globalement une opportunité d’emploi pour environ 40 demandeurs d’emploi sur le territoire wallon en 2012. Dans ce numéro de Regards économiques, nous expliquons en quoi le mode de calcul sur lequel repose cet ordre de grandeur est critiquable et nous proposons une mesure améliorée du ratio moyen entre demandeurs d’emploi et emplois vacants en Wallonie. Selon notre calcul, il y avait, en 2012, de l’ordre de 5 demandeurs d’emploi wallons par opportunité d’emploi diffusée par le Forem. Ce nombre baisse davantage si l’on tient compte des offres non publiées au Forem, des postes vacants intérimaires ou des offres transmises par les autres Régions. Nous concluons qu’il y a un manque relatif d’offres d’emploi par rapport au nombre de chômeurs en Wallonie, mais on est loin de l’ampleur habituellement rapportée.
