Pessimisme des Français : est-ce une généralité ?

Abstract

Plusieurs comparaisons internationales ont montré que les Français sont globalement plus pessimistes que les habitants de pays comparables. Ce pessimisme relatif d’ensemble recouvre cependant un paysage intérieur très contrasté, le revenu et la catégorie socioprofessionelle – au-delà du pur effet revenu – constituant des déterminants importants de l’optimisme individuel et collectif. Le niveau d’éducation, le genre, le lieu d’habitation ou encore la présence d’enfants sont également autant de déterminants dont nous explorons les effets sur le bien-être subjectif dans cette note.
