Abstract

Dans cet article, les auteurs partent du principe selon lequel le bien-être s’étend au-delà de la richesse matérielle et proposent un indicateur alternatif, le «revenu équivalent», pour le mesurer. Cet indicateur prend non seulement en compte la situation des individus dans différents domaines de leur vie, mais aussi l’importance qu’ils attachent à ces derniers. Au moyen d’une enquête à grande échelle menée auprès d’un échantillon représentatif de la population belge, ils comparent le revenu équivalent aux indicateurs standards de bien-être matériel (la consommation personnelle) et de bien-être subjectif (la satisfaction à l’égard de la vie).
