Abstract

***** The article aims to design a methodology to measure social capital among victims of armed conflict in Colombia. For this purpose it uses a mixed methodology strategy that includes quantitative instruments (surveys and experimental games), and qualitative instruments (life stories and focus groups) in order to establish the strengths, weaknesses and the type of information that each instrument provides. The final scope is the design of a battery of instruments and indicators for measuring social capital in victims, and the construction of an aggregate and disaggregated index for micro, meso and macro dimensions of analysis. The pilot of the methodology was conducted in two places: the community of victims living in the village of El Salado (Bolívar, Colombia) because they have been involved in an intervention program and victims who live in the village “La Emperatriz”, which have not participated yet. Although the main purpose is to point out the validity and reliability of the methodological design, the article shows differences in social capital among the victims who have participated in an intervention program and those who have not.
