Abstract

Este libro es el resultado del esfuerzo realizado por cinco pescadores de la comunidad de Barú y por investigadores de la Facultad de Economía de la Universidad de los Andes. A partir de los relatos de los pescadores, de dibujos hechos y fotografías tomadas por personas de la región y por los investigadores, este libro introduce al lector en la vida de un pescador del Caribe colombiano, particularmente, en cómo realiza la actividad de la pesca y en cuál es la importancia de esta actividad para los hogares, en términos no solo de seguridad alimentaria y económica, sino sociales y culturales. Así, el libro nos invita a explorar y a sumergirnos más a fondo en esta realidad. Con él se busca reconocer e iniciar la recuperación del conocimiento local que tienen los pescadores artesanales sobre su actividad y el entorno que los rodea, como un insumo clave para la exploración de estrategias legítimas y efectivas de conservación, tanto de los recursos naturales de la zona como de su identidad cultural.
