Estudios explicativos sobre la violencia contemporánea en Medellín

Abstract

“¿Qué tanto sabemos, con conocimiento confiable, sobre el por qué de la violencia contemporánea en Medellín? Muy poco. La justificación de esta lacónica respuesta se presenta a Continuación. Se han identificado trece trabajos, de corte académico, que en una u otra forma intentan dar cuenta de las causas o raíces de la violencia social en Medellín, o de sus factores asociados. A continuación, sin más ánimo que el de contribuir a una discusión de altura sobre los trabajos realizados, se hace un breve recuento de nueve de ellos, presentados en orden cronológico, y se emite un concepto, muy personal, sobre algunos méritos o deméritos de los mismos. A los otros cuatro se los alude incidentalmente. Para evitar ambiguedades conviene decir que, en este artículo, se entiende por "violencia" los actos, o amenazas, de dano físico grave, incluida la privación de la libertad, realizados y/o planeados contra personas individuales o contra grupos de ellas.”
