Abstract

El creciente interés de los usuarios por disponer de series de tiempo históricas consistentes ha orientado los esfuerzos de los institutos de estadística hacia la búsqueda de métodos apropiados que garanticen continuidad en la información publicada. Este documento presenta las experiencias internacionales más sobresalientes en el empalme de series de tiempo, haciendo énfasis en el procedimiento, las variables empleadas y en algunos casos las limitaciones de los ejercicios desarrollados en cada país. La investigación permite realizar una propuesta aplicable a las series de agregados macroeconómicos en Colombia. *********** The availability of consistent historical series has been an increasing interest of general users, which has lead the institutional efforts of statistical institutes towards the approach of appropriate methods that guarantee continuity in the information published. This paper contains the most outstanding international experiences on linking time series, making special emphasis on the estimation procedure, variables used and in some cases the limitations of the exercises developed in each country. This research allows developing an applicable proposal to macroeconomic aggregates time series in Colombia.
