Determinantes de la dinámica de la cuota de manejo de las tarjetas de crédito en Colombia: el caso de la franquicia VISA

Abstract

El presente documento realiza una aproximación al estudio de los determinantes de la cuota de manejo, como una variable decisiva en el uso de la tarjeta de crédito. Se estima un modelo econométrico dinámico a través de un panel de datos estimado por el MGM en donde la cuota de manejo está explicada por variables del tamano de la entidad financiera, variables sobre el uso de las tarjetas y la tasa de interés. La base de datos utilizada está confirmada por 17 bancos durante el periodo comprendido entre enero de 2009 y junio de 2013, con frecuencia trimestral. Los resultados indican que las variables reflejan el comportamiento sugerido por la teoría económica y ayudan a evidenciar la dinámica del precio de las tarjetas de crédito en Colombia.
