Abstract

Resumen: A diferencia de sus vecinos en la región andina, Brasil y el Cono Sur, el Estado colombiano se ha constituido de una manera particular, siendo Medellín el ejemplo para mostrar. La alianza entre élites empresariales y administrativas públicas y privadas, paramilitares, narcotraficantes y políticos ha generado una forma de modernización perversa en la búsqueda por hallar una salida a la guerra urbana. El presente ensayo aborda el cambio extremo de la ciudad analizando la evolución de los llamados combos, milicias de izquierda y paramilitares durante la transición de una economía industrial a una de finanzas, seguros y bienes raíces fuertemente arraigada en la producción y exportación de cocaína. Entender el presente como historia es el objetivo final de este trabajo.
