Un aporte al debate sobre la neutralidad del dinero: evidencia empírica del caso colombiano en el periodo 1970-2000

Abstract

En este trabajo se realiza la contrastación empírica para el caso colombiano de una de las discusiones centrales de la macroeconomía, donde el dinero y el uso de la política monetaria se convierten en el eje central del debate. Para ilustrar la discusión en Colombia se analizó el periodo 1970-2000, encontrándose que en la economía colombiana existe una relación positiva entre inflación y cantidad de dinero en circulación. Dicha relación sugiere que un incremento de 1%en la cantidad de dinero en circulación, provoca un aumento en el valor esperado de los precios de 0.69%. Lo anterior implica que para elevar los salarios se debe tener como referencia la evolución de la producción con el objetivo de no amenazar las metas de inflación.
