Contrastes en la industria de acero en el Lejano Oriente

Abstract

Los dos países aquí expuestos ocupan una magnitud mucho mayor que Colombia dentro del panorama siderúrgico mundial puesto que China es el primer productor mundial de acero y la India ocupa la posición No. 8 en este ranking internacional. Pero he creído útil efectuar este análisis comparativo entre estos dos colosos puesto que se pueden extraer lecciones muy útiles para el futuro desarrollo de nuestra modesta industria siderúrgica.La dotación de las dos materias primas básicas requeridas por esta industria (mineral de hierro y carbón) es diferente en Colombia a la dotación existente en la China y en la India, países ambos que disponen de amplios yacimientos de mineral de hierro y de carbón en tanto que Colombia dispone sólo de amplios yacimientos de carbón (incluyendo a los mayores yacimientos de carbones coquizables de América Latina), en tanto que registra una escasez de minerales de hierro.
