Abstract

****** In this article we show the evolution of inequality in the latin-american region in the XXI century, considering separately income and wealth, for the largest economies. We analyze the drivers of the changes in inequality measures and the possible causes, considering the potential role of the leftist governments. We show how the evolution of the international context and the political equilibrium are consistent with the observed patterns.
