Abstract

In people with diabetes, a foot infection often leads to amputation. Plain film x-ray is the traditional method in assessing foot bone infections but magnetic resonance is more sensitive and specific. A comparison is performed here between radiography and radiography plus magnetic resonance in patients with diabetic foot and signs of infection by means of a Markov model. It was found an ICER of $1.532.778 y de $1.741.311 without and with discount. Magnetic resonance in assessment of a diabetic foot with signs of infection would be cost-effective for Colombian. Results are robust to sensibility analysis.
