Una mirada al comercio intraeuropeo desde la nueva geografía económica

Aunque el comercio al interior de la Unión Europea es el de mayor volumen a nivel mundial, la producción industrial de los bienes que se exportan e importan se concentra alrededor del área del Ruhr, el Ìle de France, los Países Bajos y el sureste de Inglaterra. La Nueva Geografía Económica, que integra el análisis del Comercio Internacional con el de la localización de la actividad productiva, brinda un sencillo modelo a partir del cual se puede entender esa dinámica Europea. Este trabajo busca mostrar, de manera empírica, que el alto comercio intraeuropeo está relacionado con la aglomeración industrial alrededor de una región que abarca a las principales potencias económicas de Europa.
