Analisis de disponibilidad de infraestructura y acceso a las tecnologias de la informacion (TIC) en America Latina

Abstract

Los paises desarrollados han tenido mas acceso a la economia del conocimiento surgida por la amplia utilizacion de las tecnologias de la informacion y la comunicacion (tic) en las actividades productivas. Los paises de America Latina afrontan la llamada "brecha digital", aun cuando han tenido avances importantes en el intento por articularse a los circuitos mundiales economicos y de informacion; de alli que presenten niveles de infraestructura, acceso, utilizacion y produccion de las TIC con grandes oportunidades de mejora. En este trabajo de investigacion se realiza un analisis de la evolucion del nivel de disponibilidad de infraestructura y acceso de las TIC en paises latinoamericanos, se estima ademas un modelo para establecer de manera empirica la asociacion entre el nivel de disponibilidad de infraestructura y acceso de las TIC en estos paises y el ingreso per capita de los mismos, y se compara, mediante un indicador sintetico, la situacion al interior de la region, para identificar los paises con mejores perspectivas de avance.
