Localización de la industria manufacturera en Colombia 1990-1999

Abstract

El presente artículo analiza los factores que, a la luz de la teoría clásica de localización industrial, explican la localización de las industrias manufactureras en Colombia. El documento muestra cómo las economías de aglomeración son el determinante más importante para explicar las decisiones de localización de las firmas. El estudio se realizó con base en información de la Encuesta Anual Manufacturera (EAM) usando desagregación CIIU a cuatro dígitos para las ocho principales áreas metropolitanas de Colombia en el periodo 1990-1999. El modelo, estimado por medio de un panel de datos, muestra el efecto que tienen variables como los costos laborales, el costo de la tierra, los impuestos, los ingresos y las economías de aglomeración en las decisiones de localización de las industrias manufactureras.
