Las y los trabajadores del servicio doméstico en Cali y su área metropolitana: algunas características de quienes ejercen esta ocupación

Abstract

Este escrito es el resultado de saciar una curiosidad que surgió cuando, analizando las condiciones de empleo para las trabajadoras del servicio doméstico, se encontró un número considerable de hombres trabajando en esta ocupación. Por un lado, no es una sorpresa que sean las mujeres quienes tienen mayor participación en este tipo de empleo, de hecho, es bien conocida como ocupación feminizada, pero lo que sí puede llegar a sorprender, es que en algunos aspectos laborales, ellos estén mejor que las mujeres. Para mostrar lo anterior, se ofrece un análisis descriptivo de la información que se encuentra en la Gran Encuesta Integrada de Hogares (GEIH) del Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadísticas (DANE) para los segundos trimestres de los anos que contiene el periodo 2008 a 2019, específicamente, para el área metropolitana de Cali, en adelante, CAM.
