Abstract

Palabras clave: Capital Humano, restricciones crediticias, transmisión intergeneracional ******* Abstract This paper investigates the importance of credit constraints on education, in the context of intergenerational transmission of human capital. We found evidence suggesting that credit constraints are not a main factor in the intergenerational transmission of human capital in Mexico. These results are consistent with studies for developed countries where credit constraints do not appear to play an important role in the persistence of human capital. Our article also shows that the factors associated with early youth environment where the person develops just seem to explain their educational attainment, which is consistent with several studies that suggest that are the skills, not the credit constraints, which finally explain the years of education. Key words: Human Capital, credit constraints, intergenerational transmission.
