¿Cómo eligen hombres y mujeres?: un estudio sobre la ocupación laboral desde tres estratos socioeconómicos

Abstract

ResumenEl estudio de la decisión de participación, y más aún, la elección de los tipos de empleoen los que un individuo puede desempenarse, puede ser concluyente en la dinámicade los procesos de movilidad social que se generan dentro de una población. En esteejercicio se analizan los determinantes de la ocupación laboral para cuatro categoríascontrolando por tres estratos socioeconómicos: bajo, medio y alto. Se utilizó laEncuesta Continua de Hogares 2006 - II para estimar un modelo logit multinomialque permitió dar cuenta de la forma cómo hombres y mujeres eligen sus ocupaciones,reconociendo que aquellos de estratos más bajos y menos educados, eligen empleosmenos remunerados siguiendo la lógica del trabajador anadido, mientras que quienespertenecen a un segmento social más alto, lo hacen bajo la lógica del trabajadoralentado, escogiendo empleos mejor calificados y remunerados.
