La Danza de los Millones y la Gran Depresión en Colombia, 1923-1931

Abstract

El periodo de 1923-1931 fue uno de grandes acontecimientos económicos a nivel global, caracterizado por la expansión económica y de crédito posterior a la Primera Guerra Mundial y el inicio de la Gran Depresión. Para el caso particular de Colombia, la creación de instituciones económicas como el Banco de la República, el rápido incremento del endeudamiento externo y el desarrollo de un ambicioso plan de construcción de infraestructura de transporte, así como la desaceleración económica posterior a 1928 marcaron el periodo. Este documento examina los principales eventos económicos en el país durante la época, contrastando el comportamiento de la economía colombiana con el de otras de la región y resaltando el impacto de las fluctuaciones globales sobre el desempeno económico local.
